Brer Rabbit

There was a tar baby that Brer Fox made
They dressed and then a trick they played
A trick on poor Brer Rabbit

They caught him and threatened to chop off his head
He would rather be dead then in the briar patch he said
But they didn’t know this was his habit

They said they would make him into a stew
“The briar patch is what I’m scared of, not you!”
So they threw him in the briar patch

“Brer Rabbit is gone,” is what they thought
But they never really had him caught
And all Brer Rabbit did was laugh
